FTTC is the latest technology for high speed data services; It uses fibre connections to street cabinets which act as mini exchanges. Special equipment is installed in the street cabinets which are connected to the local telephone exchange using fibre optic cables which give the high speed. Connections between the street cabinet and customer premises utilise existing copper wire which performs well over short distances.
